The recipe was promoted by Plæk Phibunsongkhram alongside a range of Thai cultural mandates. Thai cuisine, like most food, is influenced by many cultural ingredients and cooking techniques. One example is noodles, which were introduced to Thailand from China. While pad Thai was invented in the 1930s, the noodle — an essential part of pad Thai — has been widely used for centuries. The stir fry dish combines Thai rice noodles with vegetables and sauce bursting with sweet, salty, sour and umami flavors.

You Will Need:

  • 8 oz flat, wide rice noodles
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 cups shredded (julienned) carrots
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 pouch Simply Organic Vegan Pad Thai Simmer Sauce

 

Directions

1. Immerse rice noodles in very warm water for 15 minutes, drain and set aside

2. Ina wide skillet or wok, heat oil over high heat.  Add carrots, bean sprouts and cabbage and stir fry 2 to 3 minutes until softened

3. Add noodles and sauce and cook stirring, until noodles are softened and sauce begins to thicken

4. Garnish with toasted chopped peanuts and fresh cilantro, and serve with a wedge of lime
